Solo Exhibition at St Helier
I have had a brilliant year!
In May 2010 Falle Fine Art Gallery of St Helier, Jersey, hosted a solo exhibition for me. Jersey is an island off the south coast of England (actually closer to France). It was a great success. Many of my exhibits were sold during the first hour of the private viewing. First to go was a miniature of a Wild Boar, quickly followed by Arteius, Monarch of the Glen, a spectacular life size stag, standing aloft a very heavy gnarly piece of driftwood. By the end of the one man show only three of the small sculptures remained and two of my full scale outside pieces;
Gertrude and her foal, Tuppence, were “stabled” at The Jersey Potteries, at home among the collection of unusual china and exciting gifts.
A high relief of two dolphins found a temporary home at The Oyster Box - a fantastic seafood restaurant located in one of the most beautiful spots in Jersey, St Brelade's Bay, and the perfect showcase for the dolphins.
Both sculptures soon found buyers
I am working closely with the Contemporary Fine Art Gallery, Eton where I usually have two or three of my smaller works on display. I owe much to them for their continued support and encouragement.
The Contemporary Fine Art Gallery exhibited several pieces at The Affordable Art Show in London earlier this month.
A full sized Baying Stag and an Eagle Landing are currently sailing towards Southampton on their way to Matthew Upham Antiques, King's Road, London, and will be on exhibit there for several weeks as of end November.
On the same boat is Diomedes, a full size jumping stallion. He will be on exhibit at The Jersey Potteries, Jersey from mid December. Both sculptures can be viewed by entering the <sculptures> option from my home-page.
I have also exhibited at a number of smaller shows in Asia this year and now count Imelda Marcos among my collectors. She bought the only sculpture of a dog that I have so far undertaken and has commissioned a Philippine monkey eating Eagle.
I have undertaken a number of commissions this year not only for private individuals but also for several institutions and hotels around the world.
Next year I plan to hold two "one man exhibitions", one in Paris and another in Singapore. As soon as the plans and dates have been finalised I will post them on the website.
In the meantime I am working hard on a series of full scale mythical animals that have captured my imagination and should be ready with the first couple of pieces at the beginning of next year.
